You Need A Forex Traders Mindset (Part II)

By Ahmad Hassam

Greed is a form of fear which is the fear of missing out. So you need to control and face your fears in trading. The first step in overcoming fear is to recognize the various forms of fear connected with trading. The second step is knowing how to control those fears.

Have you ever thought why do so many people rush to the departmental store during the sales season? Is it the fear of missing out. Any kind of buying mania stems from the fear of missing out. People are afraid of missing out a good opportunity. This form of fear is a kind of greed.

In forex trading, this fear manifests itself especially during a sharp rally or decline of a currency pair. Suppose, you see on your computer monitor that the EUR/USD pair is making new highs, as it keeps on going up and up.

Immediately buy, buy, and buy signals start ringing in your mind. Your heart starts pounding. You start feeling the acute pain of not being in the market when the EUR/USD pair continues to move higher and higher. Your mouth is watering with the thoughts of making potential huge profits.

The rising graph of the EUR/USD pair hypnotizes you. This fear of losing out hypnotizes you into placing buy orders frantically. You start thinking, Everyone is buying and I havent. I am losing out a highly profitable trade. You have some doubts at the far back of your mind but you simply ignore them. You want to ride the trend just like everyone by rushing into it headlong. You are not willing to rationally analyze your trading decision.

This type of trading is very dangerous. It compels you to enter into a trend very late when most of the buying has been done. The mindset, How can I not be buying/selling when everyone else is buying/selling, is extremely dangerous. Be disciplined! Be glad to think that most of the traders are pouring dumb money into buying a currency pair that is already overbought.

There will be winners. There will be losers. Trading is like a game. Sometime you win. Sometimes you will lose some of your trades. You should know that the fear of losing out is the most prominent among the new traders.

Many new traders become victims of analysis paralysis. New traders become afraid of pulling the trigger when it comes to entering or exiting a trade as they fear losing money. New traders dont yet have the adequate skills and knowledge to help assess and evaluate trading opportunities with a high level of confidence. This leads to trading paralysis.

Now you should not be afraid of pulling the trigger and being fearful of damaging the account based on only one trade. How to overcome this type of trading paralysis? Decide before entering into a trade, how much you can afford to lose. Use a stop loss order that is in accordance with your money management rules.

It is very easy for traders to oscillate between emotional high and low. The outcome of just one trade should not affect your overall performance. Do not get caught up feeling invincible or pessimistic after a win or a loss. Try to develop your own winning forex trading system that can give more winner than losers in the long run. - 23305

A Historical Look At Guaranteed Investment Certificates

By Amy Nutt

Guaranteed investment Certificates, (GIC) are Canadian investments that provide a guaranteed rate of return over a fixed period of time. GICs are normally provided by banks, credit unions, and trust companies.

The earliest forms of guaranteed fixed-income investments included such investments as bank notes and mutual funds. The first Canadian fund, Canadian Investment Fund Ltd. (CIF), was established in 1932. It changed its name to Spectrum United Canadian Investment Fund in 1996, and this fund changed name at the end of August 2002 to CI Canadian Investment Fund. Investing in guaranteed investment certificates, or GICs, has been the safe and sound choice from the time when registered retirement savings plans became available in 1957. GICs were created to give people a guaranteed return on an investment. Back in the 1970's, interest rates on investments were higher averaging about 7.7 per cent and as much as 15.8 per cent in 1982. Part of that high interest rate was due to higher price inflation than today.

Interest rates are lower now. Over the past five years, GICs with a five-year term have paid an average of less than 3 per cent a year. Because Guaranteed Investment Certificates are low risk, there is normally a lower rate of return. With a GIC, the financial institution will borrow the person's money for a specified amount of time which can be six months, one year, two years, or up to 10 years. When the GIC period has ended, your initial investment will be returned plus any accrued interest.

To own a GIC you must deposit at least $500.00. When the period has ended, one can then cash them as taxable income or renew it for another term. If you cash out before the term as ended, you will be required to pay a fee. GICs tend to pay a higher interest rate than bank savings accounts, but less most other investments. Interest rates tend to range from 1-9%.

There are other types of GICs such as Market Growth GICs. Their interest rates depend on the rate of growth in the stock market. This is a bit more risky as the market rates tend to fluctuate. Just like regular GICs, Market Growth GICs are low-risk because your original investment is guaranteed to be returned.

GICs are a popular investment choice due to their safety and security, guaranteed growth. (The interest rate is guaranteed with fixed-rate GICs,) flexible terms, and flexible payments. With some GICs, you can decide how you collect the interest you earn, such as monthly, annually or at maturity.

Guaranteed Investment Certificates make for a sound investment if you want a protected place to save your money. GICs could be used as a part of a fixed income portion of your portfolio, used for retirement supplemental income, or just to hold your money until you come up with a number of long-term financial strategies.

Guaranteed Investment Certificates have had a long history of providing Canadians with low risk financial planning investments for retirement or other investment endeavors. Investment portfolios will benefit from having an investment with a guaranteed rate of return. As well, these investments are often selected during periods of market volatility. - 23305

Benefits of Recycling Gold

By Morgan Robinson

There are many benefits to recycling gold. You can sell gold jewelry that is just sitting around collecting dust and make some money. Recycling gold is also good for the environment. Recycled gold is melted down to liquid form and then molded into a new product or piece of jewelry. Gold prices are at a all time high so you will be surprised at what you can get for the old pieces of jewelry that you have been saving.

The demand for metals is increasing at a faster rate than the mining industry can supply. Recycling of gold and other precious metals helps fill the gap between the growing demands and decreasing supply. When you recycle you also help save the environment by the not depleting more of our natural resources.

When they mine for gold it waste a lot of water; not only does it take an enormous amount of water it also contaminates the water sources it draws from. The majority of gold that is mined in the United States comes from Nevada. The Nevada Gold Mines consume more water every year than all of the population of Nevada combined. One gold mine can consume 100 million gallons of water every day. The harsh chemicals that are use to refine the ore further pollute the ground and destroy local ecosystems.

The mining process that is used to extract the ore from the surrounding rocks amount to a huge amount of waste; a large part of it is in the form of discarded rock that is saturated with chemicals and solvents. This means for every ton of pure gold that exists there is three million tons of waste to dispose of. Eventually the chemicals and solvents in the discarded rocks will find their way into our ecosystem. This in turn will affect native plant life and the animals in the area of the mines.

The end goal of any mining company is to process as much gold as possible and this means that the more they mine the further underground they have to go. This makes mining a determent to our natural resources. The profit is huge for gold so the mining companies use the last technologies and processes to get as much gold as quickly as possible. Even though they are mining more efficiently they are still depleting our natural resources. This is why recycling everything and anything we can, including precious metals is becoming more important every day. You can help to do your part for the environment by recycling you precious metals and looking for jewelry that is made with recycled metals. You can clean out your jewelry box and get rid of things you never wear and it will give you more space. You can always take the money from the gold you sell and purchase a piece of jewelry you have had your eye on. Gold recycling is a easy and fast way to recycle your unwanted gold jewelry and make some money at the same time. - 23305
